The Ruby Reel (J-Music Recs) :: Record #3

Written By: Weslee

Welcome to back to another installment of Weslee’s J-Music Recommendation! These are purely based on my personal opinion, so you may or may not agree with them, but please be polite in the comments. These posts will be a compilation of my top 5 picks from anything that’s caught my eye, along with them are the song information, links, and music videos! J-Music is not only limited to J-Pop, so there will be a variety of genres within the Japanese music spectrum. Please enjoy Weslee’s Top Five!

Summer is here for most of us now, so I chose some songs that let you lean back and relax, I hope everyone enjoys and has a wonderful weekend!

Title: Boku no Namae Wo (僕の名前を)

Artist: back number

Album (Single): Boku no Namae Wo (僕の名前を)

Media (Live Action Film): Ookami Shoujo to Kuro Ouji (オオカミ少女と黒王子)

Official Site: back number

Thoughts: As the first relaxing song of this post, back number has a great amount of titles that I listen to, but this one is more recent and caught my attention first on the playlist! The acoustics along with light rock elements meld perfectly to create this calming tune, a good choice for playing on a drive home from a long day of work or play.

Music Video (Short Version):

Title: Aishiteru no ni, Aisenai (愛してるのに、愛せない)

Artist: AAA

Album (Single): Aishiteru no ni, Aisenai (愛してるのに、愛せない)

Media: N/A

Official Site: AAA

Thoughts: AAA’s music is a must-listen for me, my first song I heard from them was Still Into You, but anything by AAA is well done, ranging from this soft, melancholic tune to their more cheerful and brimming with energy songs.

Title: Lime Tree (ライムツリー)

Artist: nano.RIPE

Album (Single): Lime Tree (ライムツリー)

Media (Anime ED): Saijaku Muhai no Bahamut ED (最弱無敗の神装機竜《バハムート》)

Official Site: nano.RIPE

Thoughts: nano.RIPE is an amazing band, I love Kimiko’s voice, it’s such an original sound compared to many J-Artist’s I’m familiar with, and all her titles are great to listen to because of it along with the great music accompaniment.

Music Video (Short Version):

Title: Namae wo Yobu yo (名前を呼ぶよ)

Artist: Luck Life (ラックライフ)

Album (Single): Namae wo Yobu yo (名前を呼ぶよ)

Media (Anime ED): Bungou Stray Dogs (文豪ストレイドッグス)

Official Site: Luck Life

Thoughts: Words cannot express how much I am obsessed and completely enamored by this song, everything from the lyrics, music, and vocals is the ultimate song method of relaxation for me this year. Luck Life does this song justice, and I’ve listened to it on a constant loop through these past few months, it’s a wonderful song and perfect for lounging after a long day, a breath of fresh air.

Music Video:

Title: Kuusou Triangle (空想トライアングル)

Artist: ChouCho

Album (Single): Kuusou Triangle (空想トライアングル)

Media (Anime ED): HaruChika~ Haruta to Chika wa Seishun Suru~ (ハルチカ~ハルタとチカは青春する~)

Official Site: ChouCho

Thoughts: Any title by ChouChou is such a great recommendation to an avid J-Music fan, along with anime fans that have heard ChouCho sing for multiple anime opening and endings! Along with ChouCho’s amazing music, HaruChika was an amazing anime and will be reviewed later on in my Anime/Manga Review section.
