The Ruby Reel (K-Music Recs) :: Record #3

Written By: Lauren

Ready for another round of great music? So am I! I’m Ren, and I’m here with six great tracks released this month. I hope you give these tracks a listen, because they all deserve some love!

Many of my favorite groups had a new album this month, including BTS and AOA. There were also several solo releases, such as Woohyun‘s long-anticipated individual album, Write.., and Crush‘s Interlude.

Like usual, this has no specific order. They’re all great!

Track # 1: “Nodding/Still I Remember (끄떡끄떡)” by WOOHYUN (INFINITE)

Album: Write..

Duration: 4:18

Commentary: If you’re a fan of Woohyun and of ballads, this is the song for you. “Nodding” is an emotion-packed track with a good dynamic of highs and lows. Woohyun’s voice enriches the impact of the song, while inviting you deeper into the lyrics. Even though I don’t listen much to ballads, “Nodding” was memorable and catchy, and suited perfectly for Woohyun’s husky, strong vocals. The cinematography of the music video is spectacular and provides more emotional connectivity to the song. Check it out!

The Ruby Reel (J-Music Recs) :: Record #2

Written By: Weslee

Welcome to back to another installment of Weslee’s J-Music Recommendation! These are purely based on my personal opinion, so you may or may not agree with them, but please be polite in the comments. These posts will be a compilation of my top 5 picks from anything that’s caught my eye, along with them are the song information, links, and music videos! J-Music is not only limited to J-Pop, so there will be a variety of genres within the Japanese music spectrum. Please enjoy Weslee’s Top Five!

I’m mixing it up a bit this time around with old favorites (2000-2009) I had on my music library that popped up, I hope these songs might give some of you nostalgia!

Title: ORION

Artist: Mika Nakashima (中島 美嘉)

Album: Voice

Media (Drama): Ryūsei no Kizuna (流星の絆)

Official Site: Mika Nakashima

Thoughts: Although this song is not as old (2008), it still has an impact on me even now, Nakashima’s voice upon my first time hearing it back then with her debut in 2003, I was awe-struck by her voice– which can be a smooth baritone or become light and airy easily. This song is one of my favorites from her, and is one of those “lazy days” tunes in my opinion, the overall tempo not too high and low, but at a constant beat that is just natural to me.

The Ruby Reel (K-Music Recs) :: Record #2

Written By: Lauren

Hello, everyone! I’m here with my second music recommendation list. How did you like my first one? Did you end up liking any of the songs I listed? Hopefully the answer is “yes,” because I’ve got some more tracks this time for you all to check out!

Again, these aren’t in any particular order. Enjoy!

Track # 1: “Save Me” by BTS

Album: The Most Beautiful Moment in Life: Epilogue

Duration: 3:16

Commentary: The song is beautiful and draws you in right from the beginning with the smooth vocals. The vocals and music gradually builds up to a faster chorus and a strong instrumental piece. Following the chorus, Suga begins to rap and eases the song into its rap segments. The transitions in this song are smooth and every element of the song fits in well with each other. This emotional track is one of my favorite tracks from the album, and if you are a fan of “Run” or “I Need U,” you’ll definitely like this song.
